This video has nothing to do with Bodhi Day. It doesn’t have anything to do with anything, truth be told. This video is just freakin’ awesome.
When I get too attached to expectations, I watch this and am comforted by the advice of my grandmother who said, “It takes all kinds to make a world.” (Actually, I don’t think my grandmother ever said that, but it sounds like the kind of thing that someone’s grandmother would say, and, I think, is a pretty spot-on observation. What my grandmother was fond of saying, a tidbit of grandmotherly advice that’s stuck with me lo these many years, was “this too shall pass.” But that’s really a story for another time.)
At any rate, here we are on December 8th, it’s Bodhi Day, Hanukkah, and in a few weeks Christmas and Kwanzaa (not to mention Boxing Day), all of which are capped off by the coming new year. So. Yuletides all around. May you continue to be great and make all the people happy, Japanese Buddha Claus.
